I grew up as an Asian American woman who rarely saw myself reflected in beauty. Many eye makeup products were not designed for almond-shaped eyes or straight lashes, and I spent years trying to make products work that were never really built for my features.

After earning my PhD and building a career in biotechnology, I started to think about beauty differently. I realized I could combine my scientific background with my love for beauty to approach makeup with a more thoughtful, biotech-driven perspective.

That idea became Gold & Olive. I wanted to create eye makeup that performs better for diverse lash types and eye shapes while bringing real ingredient innovation into the category.

I want people to feel like the products they use were actually designed with them in mind. When that happens, beauty stops feeling like something you have to adapt to and starts feeling like something that empowers you.
